Britney Spears returns to sender the news of her alleged use of methamphetamines.
The case broke out over the weekend after tabloids such as The Sun and the Daily Mail reported the words of Britney’s ex-husband, Kevin Federline, according to which the singer was abusing synthetic drugs.
In an Instagram post, Britney said she was very upset at the thought that Federline and his sons, Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16, might harbor such suspicions about her.
‘The fact that people say things that aren’t true is so sad… They might as well not be the ones saying things like that because it doesn’t make any sense to me for them to say it,’ the star said in a post. “So you guys go behind my back and talk about me?” It breaks my heart for such low-level news… I always thought that it was the newspapers that bullied me… It’s sad to imagine people sitting around a table and inventing lies about me.’
‘I just hope it’s yet another obnoxious invention from the newspapers and that neither Kevin nor Preston said anything like that,’ he added.
In a statement entrusted to Instagram Stories, Kevin reversed the version given by the newspapers, adding that he had cut ties with journalist Daphne Barak. “It pains our family that Daphne Barak and Erbil Gunasti have decided to make up lies and ride on all the pain our family has had to endure, as well as the trauma caused to our minor children by the Daily Mail and The Sun,” he wrote. ‘His lies and attempts to exploit minors are just click bait and another repulsive example of where, unfortunately, a certain journalism is sinking today.’
Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart also sent a legal letter to the Daily Mail asking its editors to ‘immediately delete and withdraw the false and defamatory reports and conduct an internal investigation into this matter and the abuse of Britney and her children’ ‘.
‘Britney is a public figure, but this conduct goes beyond all limits and is totally unacceptable. It is shoddy even by today’s ‘journalism’ standards and unfair by the type of scrutiny to which she is subjected,’ added the lawyer.
Britney and Kevin were married from 2004 to 2007. Recently, the singer has authorized the transfer of children to Hawaii.
