We are taking action to combat auto theft, and it’s working.
Today, we delivered an update on the progress of our National Action Plan on Combatting Auto-Theft: 1900 vehicles recovered by CBSA, thefts down 19% across Canada.
Our strategy includes stiffer penalties for criminals, enhanced detection at ports, intelligence sharing across policing, and additional funding and resources for local police auto theft operations. As well as restoring funding cut to CBSA by the preceding government.
We have achieved great success over the first few months of our strategy, and we need to keep going so that residents in Mississauga-Erin Mills feel safer in our communities.
