Canada’s first fully functional tiny home village opened in Hammond, Ontario.
OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA, June 1, 2023/EINPresswire.com/ — Canada’s first fully functional tiny home village has now opened in Hammond, Ontario, at the Hammond Hill eco-resort. Small Living Village, a developer of tiny home communities, is rolling out its first of many tiny home villages, beginning with Hammond Hill.
As the prices for homes and recreation properties skyrocket, demand for more affordable housing options like tiny homes has increased dramatically. Further, the demand for tiny home short-term rentals has equally improved, with Airbnb reporting that between 2019 and 2021, searches for tiny homes on its platform increased by over 790%. In addition, 55% of Airbnb’s 100 most wish-listed homes fall under the “unique” category, such as tiny homes, yurts, glamping tents, and more.
Small Living Village has already delivered the first 10 of 50 tiny homes onsite, which are all now available for overnight stays to the general public. The tiny home village is the first of its kind in Canada, and will ultimately have 50 tiny homes with running water, incinerating toilets, internet, and solar power.
“We couldn’t have anticipated the demand for these tiny homes when we first started this project,” says Small Living Village co-founder Brad Cartier. “The 10 acres that will feature our first village at Hammond Hill is perfect as we can benefit from all the amenities already at the campground, and they can benefit from our supply of tiny homes to help boost revenue. It’s a win-win all around!”
Hammond Hill, the first new campground in Ontario in 12 years, also features other overnight accommodation options such as Jupes, yurts, campsites, airstreams, and more. Also onsite is a licensed beer garden, two lakes, beach volleyball, hiking trails, a playground, a food truck, and more. Hammond Hill is also part of the Hammond Golf & Country Club located next door, featuring an 18-hole golf course, a restaurant (Dandy Lion), and a microbrewery (Broken Stick Brewing Company). The microbrewery is also the first to open within a golf course in Canada.
The greater community of Clarence-Rockland is also benefiting from this type of tourism and economic development, according to Mayor Mario Zanth. “I would like to the team on the official opening of Small Living Village.
