Carnival Continues with Village Entertainment, Food Fair

The St. Thomas Carnival 2023 entertainment continues Wednesday at the Kelly “Pupa Kelly” Charleswell Musical Arena in the Fort Christian parking lot.

The theme Wednesday is Sofrito: International Night, with the Red Lion Sounds kicking off the entertainment at 6 p.m., followed by Jocelyne Beroard from Kassav at 7 p.m.; Goyo & Frank Reyes at 9 p.m.; VIBE at 11:30 p.m.; and Triple Kay & Asa Bantan at 1 a.m.

On Thursday, themed Local Addikshun — Rep the V.I. Flag, DJ Regg and DJ Blak will start the evening’s entertainment at 6 p.m., followed by Bugz & Blind Earz at 7 p.m.; Monea at 7:45 p.m.; Mic Love at 8:15 p.m.; Adam O at 9 p.m.; Pumpa at 10:30 p.m.; and Karnage at midnight.

On Friday — Jamrock Meets Rockcity night — the V.I. Dream Team will take the stage at 6 p.m., followed by Reggae Dynasty at 7 p.m.; Dezarie at 8:30 p.m.; King Lion at 9:30 p.m.; Romain Virgo at 10:30 p.m.; with Shenseea closing out the evening’s entertainment starting at midnight.

On Saturday, the final night of the Village, with the theme Hard Fete — Glow Night, there will be a fireworks show at 9 p.m. A deejay will kick off the entertainment at 6 p.m., followed by Klimaxx Band at 7 p.m.; Avalanche at 7 p.m.; the fireworks show at 9 p.m.; Lyrikal & Blind Earz at 9:30 p.m.; Bunji Garlin and FayAnn Lyons at 11 p.m.; and the Grandmasters at 12:30 p.m.

Other Carnival highlights include J’ouvert on Thursday — with an early dawn party on the waterfront with trucks, water, and libations — followed by the annual Children’s and Adult Parades along Main Street in Charlotte Amalie on Friday and Saturday, respectively. There are 40-plus entries this year, according to the Division of Festivals.

Food Fair, with local street food, arts and crafts and live music, will take place starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Emancipation Garden, followed by a Quelbe Tramp along Main Street at 6 p.m., according to the Division of Festivals.
