DSP issued show cause on petition regarding missing persons

KARACHI:

A two-member SHC bench, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, issued a show-cause notice to a DSP on petitions seeking the recovery of several missing persons. The court expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the investigating officers (IOs). The search for political worker Faheem Anda, missing since 2015, must continue, the court declared.

The SSP investigation stated in the court that many Joint Investigation Team (JIT) sessions were conducted, yielding no material evidence. The JIT has recommended compensating the family, labeling it a case of enforced disappearance. The IO reported that Masood Ali, son of Ishrat-e-Nisa, could not be located. The JIT has convened 22 times so far, with the next session scheduled on January 30.

The court recommended transferring the case to the PTF. The IO informed the court that they were following the court order to locate Khanzadi’s son. Although Khan Muhammad agreed, the duration was extended due to Khanzadi’s ill health.
