RAWALPINDI:
The Punjab School Education Department has made a historic decision to organise summer teaching camps in government schools during the upcoming summer holidays with an aim to enhance educational opportunities and facilitate academic progress for students.
According to the plan, daily summer teaching sessions will be held from 7am to 9:30pm with an aim to particularly focus on primary and middle-class students. A formal circular has been also issued in this regard. These educational summer camps will offer free coaching in English, Urdu, and Mathematics. All the students attending these camps will be provided with complimentary notebooks, stationery, and worksheets to facilitate note-taking during the coaching sessions.
To ensure a comfortable learning environment, all government schools will be equipped with cooling facilities including access to cold water and fans throughout the coaching period. The educational summer camps are scheduled to take place from June 5 to August 10, overlapping with the school summer break which spans from June 1 to August 14. School activities will resume on August 15 when regular classes recommence.
An additional benefit of organizing these camps is the opportunity it presents to enroll street children, who are currently not attending school, at no cost. This initiative aims to provide educational access and opportunities to children who are currently outside the formal education system.
Meanwhile, the President of the All Pakistan Private Schools Colleges Association Irfan Muzaffar Kayani has hailed the initiative. He said that it was important to provide physics, chemistry, and mathematics coaching to 9th and 10th-grade students.
