IHC to take up Imran’s appeal on 22nd

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) is going to take up on August 22 deposed prime minister Imran Khan’s appeal against his conviction in the gift repository—Toshakhana—case.

A division bench, comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, will also hear the PTI chief’s miscellaneous application to suspend his sentence and to grant him bail on that day.

The IHC has already summoned the record of Imran’s trial at Islamabad’s District and Sessions Court (West).

The trial court on August 5 sentenced Imran Khan to three-year in prison and imposed on him a fine of Rs100,000 for hiding the sale and purchase gifts he received from the Toshakhana in his statement of assets and liabilities that he submitted to the polls supervisory authority between 2018 and 2022.

The court also disqualified the former prime minister for five years, effectively barring him from participating in the general elections scheduled for November this year.
