RAWALPINDI:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan left the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after a five-hour investigation on Tuesday.
The PTI chief appeared before the joint investigation team (JIT) to answer questions about the “illegal transfer” of 190 million pounds n the Al-Qadir Trust case.
Imran left the premises surrounded by his personal security.
Tight security was put in place around the NAB premises in Rawalpindi ahead of the former prime minister’s arrival.
The anti-graft body had directed the PTI chief to appear before the combined investigation team (CIT) at the NAB office today after Imran had skipped the Bureau’s previous summons on May 18.
After the deposed premier’s arrival, NAB’s team gave Imran a questionnaire consisting of 20 questions.

According to sources, NAB has also issued a notice to the PTI chairman to be involved in the investigation of the trust case.
Earlier, while executing the arrest warrant issued by NAB, paramilitary Rangers on May 9 had arrested Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises leading to widespread protests and incidents of vandalism and arson.
The PTI had approached the apex court against the arrest and a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court on May 11 had declared the arrest illegal while allowing the PTI chief an opportunity to seek bail from the IHC in a number of cases including the NAB case.

The IHC while granting Imran bail in the case on May 12 had asked him to cooperate with NAB in its investigation into the scandal.
Following this, the Bureau had asked Imran to appear in person along with relevant documents at the anti-graft watchdog’s Rawalpindi office at 10 am on May 18, however, the PTI chief had opted out of appearing before NAB.
The government alleges that Imran and his wife, Bushra Bibi, received land worth millions of dollars as a bribe from a real estate tycoon through the Al-Qadir Trust.
The trust, a non-governmental welfare organisation, was set up by Bushra and Imran in 2018 when the latter served as the PM. The trust runs a university outside Islamabad devoted to spirituality and Islamic teachings.
