Mango Join Pakistan Accord To Provide Safe Working Environment

The Bangladesh Accord, to which Mango is still a signatory and which was renewed in 2021, has now been extended to include Pakistan.

The international agreement on health and safety in the textile and clothing industry’s Pakistan Accord has been joined by the Spanish fashion label Mango. This initiative aims to guarantee that Pakistani garment factories give workers a secure and safe working environment. Mango stated in a statement that it entered into this agreement to “reaffirm its commitment to its suppliers.”

The Bangladesh Accord, which the Spanish fashion company signed in 2013 to improve working conditions in the nation following the tragic collapse of the Rana Plaza building, which killed 1133 workers, is the source of this international initiative.

By encouraging independent inspections, training programmes, and the recognition of employees’ rights to organise or refuse unsafe work, this measure seeks to ensure that textile factories in the nation provide a safe working environment and protect workers’ rights. Additional steps are included in this initiative to ensure the safety and welfare of workers.

The Spanish fashion company’s commitment to this pact is a component of its 2030 sustainability strategy, which aims to lessen its negative effects on the environment and society by focusing on three key areas: products, planets, and people.

Mango published a list of its Tier 3 factories earlier this year, which are its suppliers of fabrics and trimmings, as a step towards increasing traceability and transparency.

In addition, the business works on social projects in partnership with a number of charities, including Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders. Mango also supports programmes that give children and women in underdeveloped areas access to education in order to ease their transition into the workforce.
