Organised by the Heritage Hub 4 Mid Wales, the exhibit, titled ‘For the Love of Laura Ashley’ will feature some of the recently acquired archives which have formed other exhibits the hub has organised throughout Powys.
An exhibit in Machynlleth is particularly significant, as the town was where the iconic designer opened her first shop in 1961.

The exhibition at MOMA will include the exclusive commissioned Pixel Portrait Quilt of Laura Ashley designed and made by British self-taught Quilter Devida Bushrod as well as some original Laura Ashley dresses.
The project will also feature the story of reuniting a Laura Ashley wedding dress made in the Machynlleth Laura Ashley Factory with one of its original seamstresses.
Montgomeryshire Senedd Member Russell George spoke of Laura Ashley and the work of the hub earlier this year, saying in the Senedd: “Laura Ashley is one of if not Montgomeryshire’s most famous of names.
“As a very successful businesswoman in post-war Britain, Laura Ashley is rightfully considered a female icon.
“I am delighted to have had the opportunity to commemorate her legacy and the work of the Heritage Hub for Mid Wales.”
‘For the Love of Laura Ashley’ will open at MOMA on June 24 and will run until September 6.
