The marriage between Ricky Martin and Ywan Josef ended several years ago.
The singer announced that he separated from the Syrian / Swedish artist in early June, but in reality the relationship between the two had been in crisis since before the pandemic.
‘When the public knew it, we had already faced our period of “mourning”’, revealed Martin in an interview with Telemundo and reported by HOLA! ‘Jwan and I will always be family. We have two children to raise together and this is not a recent decision. We had been thinking about this situation for a long time, before the pandemic.
“We look into each other’s eyes, we hug, we go through our ups and downs, we cry together and laugh together,” she added.
The two are parents of two children, Lucia, born in 2018, and Renn, born in 2019. Ricky is the father of twins Matteo and Valentino, 15, who will continue to grow up single.
The children never saw Ricky and Ywan quarrel, and the singer’s teenage children reacted positively to the news of the separation.
‘When we told them, they said to me: “Dad, are you okay? You are happy? Is this the decision? Don’t do it for us, we’re fine,”’ she shared.
In the end, parting was easier than expected. ‘I told Ywan that we should write a book on how to divorce properly. In fact, when someone gets divorced, he comes up to us and asks how we did it,” he joked. ‘It was easier than we thought. We did it taking our time and calmly.’
Although it’s still early days, Ricky hopes to find another mate in the future.
Ricky and Jwan tied the knot in 2018 after three years of dating.
