Hyderabad: In an attempt to help students tackle post-Covid stress, the Jadavpur University Alumni Association, Hyderabad chapter, held a science symposium for them at IICT in the weekend.
Titled ‘Life after pandemic- Science & Psychology’, the symposium saw over over 150 school children from various schools across the twin cities attend it to listen to Sauvik Maiti, director of CSIR-IGIB, Delhi. Maiti is also the winner of the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar prize for Science and Technology. Sandipan P, a professional brain coach also speak to children about ways to overcome post-pandemic stress and face future challenges.
“Such science outreach activities are very important for our society. They generate much-needed excitement and interest in science among the next generation. Effective science outreach is always fun and rewarding,” said Maiti, who also traced how his team’s work on sickle blood cell disease led to his invention — the affordable rapid antigen Covid kit, Feluda. tnn
