ISLAMABAD: (Rasheed Dhariwal) Advocating for Health and Wellness,On this World Diabetes Day, we take a moment to acknowledge the millions grappling with diabetes, their support networks, and the dedicated healthcare professionals standing by their side. In Pakistan, where nearly 33 million individuals are affected, the gravity of this health concern is undeniable.Together with Denmark Novo Nordisk, Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination (MNHRC), and the Health Services Academy, we organized a Multi-Stakeholder Policy Dialogue in Islamabad. This gathering united influences from government, the UN, NGOs, academia, media, medical associations, and the corporate sector. Together, we formulated a collective call to action and policy recommendations aimed at preventing diabetes and obesity while championing healthier lifestyles.A parallel dialogue unfolded in Peshawar, where the Embassy and Novo Nordisk partnered with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Department of Endocrinology at the Hayatabad Medical Complex. Here, key stakeholders convened to address this health challenge.
Danish Ambassador H.E. Jakob Linulf, at both events, underscored the significance of embracing a healthy lifestyle. He commended the MNHSRC’s ambitious objective to halt the rise of diabetes and obesity in Pakistan by 2030.
Let’s join forces to make a meaningful impact in the battle against diabetes and obesity. Together, we can strive for a healthier future for all.
